Nikka's Discovery Series was created to highlight the key stages in the creation of its Yoichi and Miyagikyo single malts.
The 2022 edition focuses on yeast, a rarely mentioned but essential ingredient in whisky making. Miyagikyo Discovery Aromatic Yeast reveals a delicate profile with fruity accents with pear, peach and apricot on the nose and more atypical notes of lavender, marshmallow and marshmallow. On the palate, cereal flavors of malt and barley are coated with notes of brioche bread and acacia honey. The long and silky finish emphasizes more herbal notes of cut grass, sage, verbena and chamomile.
Renowned for its single malts with a fruity profile, the Miyagikyo distillery, founded in 1969, benefits from a know-how inherited from the founding father of Japanese whisky, the famous Masataka Taketsuru.
